"How do I know when I am ready to move on to the next level?" asks every Beginner student at some point. And my standard response is to stay in Beginners for a couple of months; then I invite them to pop into a Drills class to see how they feel about the content. Then we can chat.
I pride myself on a very detailed explanation of the basics of this dance form and I have years of success on my side with regards to watching dancers advance, understand, and grow.
BUT... I have often thought that it would be nice to outline the adjustments that need to occur - in body AND in thought - for a successful transition to the more advanced classes.
Issues of posture, stance, weight distribution, timing, phrasing, arm/hand awareness, and embracing the correct "Drills State of Mind"! If these are addressed sooner than later, your dance journey AND its results will be more pleasant!
ALL levels welcome here! It's not too late to check the integrity of your bridge. - Karen
