SATURDAY October 8, 2022
10am - 12pm @ UTSA Conference Center
Class 1: Choreography and Live Music - What Works, What Doesn't and Why - Valerick Molinary with Michael Ibrahim on nay, Firas Zreik on qanun, and Roger Kashou on percussion.

How can we balance the expected and the unexpected? Executing a choreography to live music requires strong improvisation skills.

In this workshop we are going to work on how we modify choreographic structures according to what the music is asking from us. Movement composition can serve as guide to our performance but it shouldn't limit our interpretation or reaction to the music.

The goal of this workshop is to help dancers understand how can they combine choreographic and improvisation techniques on stage with live music.
